It is still unclear whether hepatic stellate cells (HSC) activate in a similar manner in different chronic liver disease aetiologies. Here, we investigate how human stellate cells activate in vitro at the transcriptome level. Overall design: Ultrapure primary human HSCs were isolated by FACS (excitation: 355 nm, emission: 450 nm) (n = 4) and compared with plated primary human HSCs after 1 (n = 3) and 3 passages (n = 3).
