Hydrological, thermal, and geophysical monitoring data from drilling mud sumps in the Mackenzie Delta, Northwest Territories, Canada
收藏资源简介:
Hydrology This repository contains in situ measurements of hydraulic conductivity and surface water characteristics collected at several drilling mud sumps in the Mackenzie Delta, Northwest Territories (NWT), Canada (Parsons E-02, Kamik F-38, TukTuk A-12, Tuk L-09, Tuk H-30, Tuk E-20, Nuna A-32). The dataset includes measurements of electrical conductivity (EC), pH, and discharge obtained during two field campaigns conducted in August 2024 and August 2025. Detailed metadata, including variable descriptions and measurement methods, are provided in the first worksheet of the accompanying Excel file --> Processed_hydrology_data_full.xslx. TDR This repository contains both raw and processed Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR) data collected from two drilling mud sumps in the Mackenzie Delta, Northwest Territories (NWT), Canada: Kamik F-38 and TukTuk A-12. We used Acclima TDR-305N Soil moisture sensors, suitable for use in saline soils, combined with the Acclima DataSnap logger. The dataset includes hourly measurements from September 2024 to August 2025 of: Ground temperature Soil moisture Bulk electrical conductivity (BEC) Pore water electrical conductivity (PWEC) Permittivity Both the raw and processed datasets are provided, together with the recorded TDR waveforms. The raw data are provided to ensure full reproducibility of the processing workflow, while the processed data correspond to the datasets used in the associated analyses. Sensor locations and installation depths are described in the accompanying TDR_localities.xslx file. The repository also includes a Python script for preprocessing TDR sensor data. During winter, the presence of ground ice can cause temporary sensor artefacts that result in unrealistic measurements. The script performs quality control by identifying user-defined periods of erroneous data, replacing unrealistic values with NaN while preserving the original timestamps, optionally interpolating missing values, visualising both raw and processed datasets, and exporting the cleaned data for further analysis. TDR processing workflow Load raw TDR measurements. Plot the raw sensor data. Apply sensor-specific quality-control filters. Plot the cleaned data. Optionally interpolate missing values. Export the cleaned dataset.
