Islet transplantations (an experimental treatment for insulin insufficient diabetes mellitus) with sex-matched and sex-mismatched islets were performed in mice. Male islets were isolated from 6-8 weeks old mice and transplanted into kidney capsules of age-matched male and female mice, respectively. Transplanted islets and endogenous islets from recipient mice were all collected and dissociated for scRNA-seq profiling, 9 months post-transplant.
