Global Catalog of Earthquakes in Stable Continental Regions, 2025 update

An updated list of earthquakes in Stable Continental Regions covering years 425 through 2023. This catalog incorporates previously published catalog of Schulte and Mooney (2005) available here: https://earthquake.usgs.gov/data/scr_catalog.php In this work we have digitized original outlines of the Stable Continental Regions presented in volume 5 of Johnston et al., 1994, defined 6 stable continental regions, and referenced earthquakes of the combined catalog with respect to an SCR where they occur. We also digitized outlines of extended and non-extended continental crust, and referenced earthquakes in the combined catalog accordingly. Outlines of SCRs, their divisions into non-extended and extended crust, and also outlines of plate boundaries in NUVEL1 and Bird2002 plate models are presented in ESRI formats, as layer files and also as shape files.
