Durian, often referred to as the "king of fruits," is a staple in Malaysian culture and agriculture. Known for its distinctive smell and rich, creamy texture, durian holds a special place in the hearts of Malaysians, with many varieties grown across the country. Malaysia is home to numerous durian cultivars, each with unique flavors, textures, and prices. Popular varieties include Musang King (D197), prized for its bittersweet taste and commanding premium prices, alongside others like D24, Red Prawn, and 101, each with varying quality and affordability. The significant differences in price and quality across these cultivars highlight the need to understand their genetic makeup more thoroughly.
