Azohydromonas lata strain H1 is a gram-negative, nitrogen-fixing, aerobic and hydrogen-oxidizing bacterium. It can synthesise polyhydroxylalkanoates (PHAs) that are intracellularly accumulated as energy/carbon source. PHAs possess chemical properties that are suitable for production of biodegradable plastics.The study analyses the genome sequence with particular attention to regions encoding for functions related to the polyhydroxylalkanoates production.
