Bacterial communities were investigated in plastic debris introduced into a deep-sea environment in the eastern equatorial Pacific Ocean for more than two decades (4150 m depth). The 16S rRNA hypervariable V3-V4 region for Bacteria was sequenced using Illumina MiSeq platform (2x300 bp) with 341F/785R.
