================================================================================ MESA FILES FOR REPRODUCING THE RESULTS OF: "THE IMPACT OF DIFFUSION AND TURBULENT MIXING ON CHEMICAL ABUNDANCE VARIATIONS IN THE OPEN CLUSTER NGC 2420" (AAS70052R1)================================================================================ ================================================================================ BEFORE PROCEEDING1. Download and install MESA v11554 by following the instructions on: http://mesa.sourceforge.net/prereqs.html#toc-1-6 2. This study uses a modified version of MESA r11554. The modifications include updated atmospheric boundary conditions, constants, and diffusion treatments specific to our analysis of NGC 2420. 3. All simulations were performed with MESA version r11554 only. Using other versions may yield different results.================================================================================ ================================================================================ HOW TO USE THESE FILESThe contents of MESA_files/mesa_source directory should replace the followingfiles in the user's copy of MESA v11554: mesa/atm/public/atm_def.f90 mesa/atm/private/table_atm.f90 mesa/const/public/const_def.f90 mesa/data/net_data/nets/mesa_49.net mesa/data/atm_data/* mesa/star/private/init.f90 mesa/star/public/star_lib.f90 After copying these files:1. cd into mesa/atm, mesa/const, and mesa/star individually2. Run: ./clean3. Run: ./mk 4. Copy all inlist files and run_star_extras.f90 to your MESA work directory2. Copy any required data files (e.g., BC tables) to appropriate locations3. In the inlist files, replace the following placeholders with actual values: <<H1>> - Initial hydrogen mass fraction <<He3>> - Initial helium-3 mass fraction <<He4>> - Initial helium-4 mass fraction <<MASS>> - Stellar mass (in solar masses) <<BC_TABLE>> - Path to atmospheric boundary condition table <<HISTORY_NAME>> - Output file name for history data 4. Adjust overshooting parameters for specific evolutionary stages: - For core overshooting during main sequence evolution: * Set `overshoot_f_above` and `overshoot_f_below` for the H-burning core - For envelope overshooting during shell H-burning phase: * Adjust `overshoot_f0_above` and `overshoot_f0_below` for the convective envelope - The specific overshoot scheme (exponential or step) can be modified in the `overshoot_scheme` parameter in the relevant inlist sections - Refer to the inlist files for the exact parameter names and their locations - The values used in our study are pre-configured in the provided inlists 5.
