Attitudes towards the Euro and knowledge of its introduction in the non-Euro Countries.
Topics: self-assessment on state of knowledge on the Euro; knowledge of a country introducing the Euro as well as the estimated date of introduction in this country and in other European countries; knowledge of the duration of the transitional phase in which the old currency can still be used; knowledge test on the EU-wide validity of Euro notes and coins; perception of pricing in Euro in one’s own country, abroad, on the internet as well as in catalogues and brochures; fear of disadvantages for the population and abuse in the course of the introduction of the Euro as well as fear of the loss of one’s national currency in the countries of the Euro zone; assessment of select consequences of the introduction of the Euro: Facilitated price comparison, equal meaning of the Euro with the dollar as an international currency, economic growth, reduction of the developmental differences between countries in the Euro zone, creation of job vacancies, facilitated purchasing in other countries with the Euro currency, elimination of exchange fees, simplified travelling within the European Union, price stability, personal advantages; concern about the value of the Euro compared to the dollar; knowledge of the exchange rate of the Euro into national currency; expected changes of one’s own identity as European for the inhabitants of the Euro zone and expected feeling of marginalisation among inhabitants in the non-Euro zone.
