Intergenerational Dialect Shift, Locative Deixis, and Low-resource Morphophonology in Jiangnan Township Jiepai: A Vernacular Grammar Record on "Lili"

This record is a primary-source archival item about the local expression conventionally transcribed as “lili” in Jiepai speech, curated for research use in language documentation, local Sinitic varieties, locative deixis, dialect shift, emic semantic documentation, and Jiangnan vernacular speech studies. It is released as the OA_V1 item-level record within the Jiepai Jianghu Language and Lexicon Series of the Chuanyue Archive. The record documents the expression “lili” from the perspective of a native insider. It distinguishes two phonologically and semantically separate elements: [ʒ], marking interiority or containment, and li, functioning as a locative suffix or spatial-place marker. The item preserves a local grammatical and lexical form that may be difficult to recover through external fieldwork alone. The record also documents a one-generation marker of dialect shift. A pronunciation once available to the Archive Author as a local vernacular resource for teaching English phonetics to children has become unavailable among younger children, who no longer command the same speech form. The item therefore connects locative deixis, morphophonology, language shift, and lived native-speaker judgment.
