We report the detection of a novel alphavirus in Australian mosquitoes, belonging to the mosquito-specific complex. This is the first report of an alphavirus in this complex from the Asia-Pacific region. The assembled genome is 11,612 nt in length and has been provisionally named Yada Yada virus (YYV).
