Bragg coherent diffraction imaging (BCDI) is a powerful X-ray technique employed to investigate individual platinum (Pt) nanoparticles supported on sapphire substrates. By analyzing coherent X-ray diffraction patterns, BCDI reconstructs three-dimensional images of the internal strain and defect distribution within single nanoparticles at nanometer-scale resolution. Understanding these nanoscale features is essential for elucidating the mechanisms of particle growth, coarsening, and interaction with the sapphire support. The insights gained through BCDI contribute significantly to the design and optimization of Pt-based catalysts and functional nanomaterials for energy, electronics, and surface science applications.
