资源简介:

The study assessed the prevalence of multidrug-resistant (MDR) Gram-positive cocci isolated during transvenous lead extraction (TLE) procedures in patients with cardiac implantable electronic device (CIED) infections at the Department of Electrocardiology and Heart Failure, Medical University of Silesia, Katowice, Poland.

The study used routinely collected health data from the prospective TLE registry, "EXTRACT" (Effectiveness, Complications, and Mortality of TLE in Patients; ClinicalTrials.gov ID: NCT05775783). The registry currently includes 702 consecutive patients who underwent at least one lead extraction between January 2016 and June 2025. The study group consisted of 209 patients from the “EXTRACT” registry, all aged 18 or older, both sexes, who underwent the TLE procedure due to a CIED-related infection.

In the study cohort, the reasons for TLE were as follows: 1) isolated pocket infection, 2) pocket infection with bacteremia/CIED-related infective endocarditis, and 3) isolated bacteremia/CIED-related infective endocarditis. Intraoperative swabs and peripheral blood samples were cultured. Bacterial cultures and antibiotic susceptibility testing were performed according to standard procedures. MDR refers to strains that are resistant to three or more classes of antimicrobials.

A spreadsheet in Excel format, containing raw categorical and numerical data, describes the study group's general characteristics, infection type, and the antimicrobial susceptibility of cultured strains. This file was deposited in the repository. No sensitive data was provided. The research methodology and results are described in the publication "Drug-resistant Gram-positive cocci as etiological factors of cardiac implantable electronic device infections – data from the EXTRACT registry" (……………………………..).

The README file explains the short forms and codes used in the spreadsheet (in English).
