Modeled Lagrangian data using a 1km horizontal resolution Regional Ocean Modeling System (ROMS) run. The Lagrangian model adopted is LTRANS v2b. Particles with sinking speeds of 20 m d-1, 30 m d-1, 50 m d-1 and 100 m d-1 are released at two sediment traps, GC600 (27.375 N, -90.511667 W) and AT357 (27.525 N, -89.71 W) in April and October 2012. Backward simulation of particles is applied to investigate the influence of mesoscale and submesoscale circulations on the trajectories of sinking particles in the Gulf of Mexico.
