VPRS 11795 General Correspondence Files, 'V' Series

This general correspondence series was created from 1960. It consisted of an accumulation of files that had belonged to existing records series. It includes C files and L1 to L11 files. The C series commenced in 1896. The L files commenced in 1960. L11 refers to the Melbourne Land District. L1 to L10 refers to the other Land Districts within Victoria.This general correspondence series became known as the V series. The files include correspondence in relation to applications for licences, leases, sales and other land transactional matters. Usually the files were the initial files raised for a particular matter. Files were often top-numbered into other systems.These files were accumulated by the Departments Head Office as District Offices emptied out their storage facilities and forwarded the files to Head Office for storage.
