Plankton image details including abundance, sizing, identification and biomass estimates from the UK Shelf Sea during DY018, DY026A, DY029 and DY033.

Zooplankton were collected during four periods (5th - 12th August 2014, 10th - 29th November 2014, 3rd - 28th April 2015, and 13th - 31st July 2015) across the Celtic Sea (Southwest UK shelf Sea) aboard RRS Discovery (cruises DY026, DY018, DY029 and DY033, respectively). To estimate biomass, abundance and community composition, zooplankton were collected using WP2-size net rings fitted with two different mesh sizes (63 um and 200 um) and non-filtering codends, hauled vertically from 120-200 m depth to 0 m depth. Subsamples of the formaldehyde-preserved zooplankton were then imaged using either FlowCAM or ZooScan, enumerated, manually identified, and converted into biovolume and biomass.
