Carriers with oxen hide on their way to Toamasina, Madagascar, ca.1895

"Udførsel af oksehuder (Byrdebærere på vei til Tamatave)" ("Export of oxen hide (carriers on their way to Tamatave)"). Near the LMS Mission Station at Soavina, East of Tananarive ca.1895. The carriers (in Malagasy maromita) are resting on their journey to Tamatave. The oxen hide is carried on bamboo sticks and is for export. They have spears, hats and lamba. The picture is a little damaged in the left corner.
