We analyzed the effect of valproic acid (VA) in radioresistant anaplastic thyroid cancer (ATC) cells at the expression level of microRNA (miRs) by microarray analysis. The regulated miRs by VA and irradiation, enriched in processes like DNA damage response, reveal a novel miR expression profile. We used the Affymetrix The GeneChip® miRNA 4.0 Array that ensures a complete measurement of small non-coding RNA transcripts involved in gene regulation. These Affymetrix miRNA Arrays provide 100% miRBase v20 coverage; 30,424 mature miRNA (all organisms); 5,214 human, mouse, and rat miRNA; 1,996 human snoRNA, scaRNA; 3,770 probe sets unique to human, mouse, and rat pre-miRNA hairpin sequences. MicroRNA expression profiling by microarray analysis in anaplastic thyroid cancer cells after valproic acid and gamma rays combined treatment. MiRNA expression was profiled on Affymetrix GeneChip® miRNA-4_0-st-v1 Array, representing 723 human and 76 human viral miRNAs in 40 normal and 40 cancerous gastric tissues.
