Bacillus spp. screened for antilisterial activity

Bacillus species have been of increasing interest as being applied as a bioprotective culture because some species have the ability to produce bioprotective compounds against food borne pathogens such as L. monocytogenes. Preliminary screening has narrowed focus to producer candidates from B. subtilis and B.pumilus strains as well as some control producers. Bacillus strains were previously isolated from dairy facilities, bought commericially or collect from kombucha samples (Chris Curtin - Oregon State University, Corvallis, Oregon)
