The reactors were operated so that 3 reactors were equipped with PUR materials and the fourth served as a control, in a total of 6 series PUR materials were tested: PUR_SA_DEG, PUR_SA_4EG, PUR_SA_TEG, PUR_A_2020, PUR_SA_UO.6, PUR_0,8_am, PUR_0.6, PUR_0.6-15S, PUR_0.8-15S, PUR_0.6-s05, PUR_0.6-s10, PUR_0.6-m05. A sample of activated sludge was taken from each reactor for chemical and microbiological analysis once a week. After the completion of each stage, PUR carriers were taken and leached. To determine the biochemical activity of microorganisms cultivated in individual reactors, kinetic tests of nitrification and denitrification were performed once a week. The development of biomass concentration in individual reactors was evaluated based on the determination of the concentration of suspended solids, also once a week. The pH value in the reactors was monitored every day. If necessary, the pH value was adjusted by dosing acid or alkali solutions. The influence of PUR materials on the biocenosis of activated sludge was evaluated by cultivation, selected groups of microorganisms were determined (thermotolerant coliform bacteria, E. coli, Cl. perfringens, P. aeruginosa, colony counts at 36 °C, nitrifying and denitrifying bacteria). The chemical indicators determined in the samples were inorganic forms of nitrogen (Namon, N-NO3-, N-NO2-), phosphorus (P-PO43-) and the concentration of organic substrate as a parameter CODCr. Based on microbiological and chemical analyses, the PUR_0.8_am type carrier was installed in the real pilot plant of the Olovnice and Kladno WWTPs and monitored for a year. While the data are in its esence numerical, the headers (and partially also file names) are in Czech language. ______Methods of data collection______ *For microbiological analyses (i.e. cultivation methods), sludge samples were diluted with physiological solution, selected groups of microorganisms were determined by cultivation (thermotolerant coliform bacteria, E. coli, Cl. perfringens, P. aeruginosa, colony counts at 36 °C, nitrifying and denitrifying bacteria). Microbiological analyses were performed in accordance with applicable national standards: thermotolerant coliform bacteria, E. coli (ČSN 75 7835), Cl. perfringens (Directive No. 252/2004 Coll., Appendix No. 6), P. aeruginosa (ČSN EN ISO 16266-2), colony counts at 36 °C (ČSN EN ISO 6222), nitrifying bacteria (Vinogradskij) nitrifying bacteria (Daubner). The number of KTJ or MPN in 1 ml of sludge sample was determined. The final result was determined by conversion to 1 g of dry matter.
