Heterogeneous mineralogical composition and fault behaviour: A systematic study in ternary fault rock compositions.

In this dataset the high resolution images of the microstructural analysis and the frictional strength, frictional healing and the rate and state parameters are reported. The data refer to a comprehensive study with 34 frictional experiments on fault gouges composed of three representative mineral phase:muscovite (platy phyllosilicate), quartz (granular silicate) and calcite (granular carbonate), known for their markedly distinct frictional properties.
