Protocol for on-site nanopore sequencing of chicken fecal samples

A protocol for on-site DNA extraction and nanopore library preparation from fecal samples was developed, and compared to current methods for metagenomic sequencing. Samples were spiked with the Zymo Research D6331 and D6320 mock communities (https://zymoresearch.eu/collections/zymobiomics-microbial-community-standards). Various combinations of extraction methods and library preparation chemistries were used.
