Tephroseris (Rchb.) Rchb. is perennial herbs of tribe Senecioneae of the Asteraceae family. Tephroseris contains around 50 species mainly found in temperate and arctic Eurasia. Several species are classified as endangered by the Red List in the basis of IUCN criteria. For efficient conservation of vulnerable Tephroseris species, information of within and among genetic structure is required. In this study, we aimed to develop novel simple sequence repeats in expressed sequence tag (EST-SSR) markers for Tephroseris furusei based on RNA-sequence data which will be a useful tool for genetic studies of populations and their conservation.
