Microbiomes of Domesticated Tomato and Wild Relatives

This project investigates how domestication has influenced the structure and assembly of the tomato root microbiome. We profiled bacterial communities in the rhizosphere and root endosphere of Solanum lycopersicum (cv. Moneymaker) and six wild relatives spanning major evolutionary lineages of Solanum sect. Lycopersicon, using multi-region 16S rRNA amplicon sequencing.
