AP activity was visualized in colonies on agar containing BCIP. P. aeruginosa mutants were defective in Anr, ppGpp-dependent AlgU and DksA signaling, ethanol catabolism, the kinase KinB and sigma factor VreI, which are known to influence PhoB activity, acetyl-phosphate metabolism and ethanol catabolism.
