资源简介:
A significant feature of the agricultural landscape of Salento is the alternation of flat areas, characterized by fertile land with gardens and vegetable gardens, and areas dominated by outcropping rock, which predominantly mark the hills that define the Salento "Serre". Notable examples of these landscapes include: the Arneo area, located between Nardò and Manduria; the Cupa area, which extends south of Lecce; the Galatina basin, and the Taviano valley. In these areas, the historical dynamics and settlement patternes have ancient origins. From the centuriation traces in the Roman era to the settlement of farmhouses in the Middle Ages, up to thespread of the farmhouse settlement and subsequently of mansions, country houses an dholiday cottages. The result is an overlapping of layers that define the typical cultural landscape. The transitin from these areas, primarily devoted to agricolture, to those dominated by rocky terreain suitable only for pastoralism and subsistence farming, determines diverse landscape features. These are accentuated not only by the geomorphological factors but also by the vegetation's colors and the spread of small plots enclosed by dry stone walls, characterized by a myriad of trulliform structures. A landscape that expresses itself with all its characteristics on the Serre hills.
