Filarioid targeting raw sequence reads from humans, canines and mosquitoes

The re-emergence of human filariasis in Sri Lanka post mass-drug administration presents a public health threat. This project uses COI-targeting metabarcoding to detect and characterise all filarial worm pathogens from human and canine blood as well as from mosquito vectors to attempt to elucidate novel transmission pathways of potentially zoonotic filarioids in Sri Lanka.
