Images from the Waxholm Space rat brain atlas available for viewing with stereotaxic coordinates (v1)

The dataset consists of three series of two-dimensional coronal (2D) images extracted from the 3D reference dataset of the Waxholm Space rat brain atlas (RRID:SCR_017124) (Papp et al., 2014). The reference dataset consist of magnetic resonance T2* -weighted (T2*) gradient echo images, fractional anisotropy (FA) maps and diffusion weighted image maps (DWI). Images were extracted from these three volumes at regular intervals (every third voxel), resulting in three series of images spaced 78 µm apart. The different maps are taken from consecutive neighbouring voxels, together representing every voxel in the atlas, and are provided with corresponding spatial metadata. The LocaliZoom viewer (see links and usage notes in the Data Descriptor) allows interactive inspection of the MRI images together with their corresponding atlas delineations, with possibility to read out WHS and stereotaxic coordinates for user-defined points of interest.
