The Julian Wash Site (AZ BB:13:17) is located at the I-10/I-19 interchange in Tucson,
Arizona. Approximately 87 prehistoric pit structures or possible pit structures, as well as over 100
other pits of various types were noted ranging in age from the Early Agricultural period (3000 B.C.
to A.D. 150) to the Tanque Verde phase (A.D. 1150 to 1300). A small historic component also was
noted. Pollen analysis focused on examination of floor samples from pit structures in an effort to
identify foods processed by occupants of this site through time.
