Agro Biodiversity (ABD) Data from Turkana (Kenya)

The data was collected in focus group discussions (FGDs). The FGD participants were selected based on their availability and willingness to take part as well as their knowledge of the topic, and having resided not less than one year in the sub location. Each focus group discussion was attended by at least ten participants selected with the help of the County nutrition coordinators and community health volunteers. Two focus group discussions on agro biodiversity spread over three days were conducted per sub-location, separately, but concurrently, for males and females. A total of 12 3-day discussions were carried out in the 6 randomly selected sub locations in Loima Sub County. The data was collected by 2 enumerators per group, the facilitator using a structured question guide and the note taker, taking notes.The data was entered and cleaned using Excel. Statistical analysis was done using both Excel and IBM SPSS Statistics Base, version 22. Basic descriptive statistics (frequencies, cross tabulations and percentages) were computed for all the species mentioned in the focus group discussions.
