Environmental samples for the time-depth-series were collected in a sampling campaign including six time points March and April 2016 on Lake Lomtjärnan, a small forest lake located in central west region (Jämtland) of Sweden. Samples were also collected for filtration and use as culture media, and as inoculant for methane fed anaerobic cultures. rRNA gene amplicons were sequenced from the time-depth-series samples PRJEB27633 and cultures and compared to head space methane concentrations of the cultures.
