P. oleatilyticus sp. nov. (o.le.a.ti.ly'ti.cus. N.L. n. oleatum, an oleic acid derivative; L. adj. lyticus (from Gr. adj. lytikos) dissolving; N.L. masc. adj. oleatilyticus, oleate-dissolving, referring to its ability to dissolve the oleic acid derivative Tween 80). Cells are Gram-stain-negative, facultatively anaerobic, motile, endosporeforming rods. Oxidase- positive and catalase-negative. Able to hydrolyse starch, aesculin, gelatin, tween 60 and 80 but not able to hydrolyse casein, tween 20 and 40.
