Analysis of Distributed Mechanical Stress on the Human Large Intestine in Laparoscopic Grasping

We developed a a mechanistic modelling framework that incorporates human intestinal stiffness to calculate the non-uniform distribution of stress during grasping. This mechanistic model relies on experimental inputs obtained from two complementary tests. First, an indentation test to characterise tissue stiffness. Second, a grasping test to measure the distribution of strain on the grasped intestine along the grasper jaw length, and applied torque on the grasper jaws. The raw data for both tests are included in this database. Each test has a separate folder containing the corresponding files and a read-me file explaining the dataset content and file naming.
