GPS telemetry and transmitter-temperature data for Mauremys rivulata in the Konavle plain and Slano area, southern Croatia, 2025–2026

This dataset contains GPS telemetry and transmitter-temperature data for the Western Caspian turtle, Mauremys rivulata, collected in the Konavle plain and Slano area, southern Croatia, from April 2025 to June 2026. Sixteen adult turtles were instrumented with Druid Technology, Tracker GPS-Cellular-Solar INTERREX 4G 12 GPS-temperature loggers. Fifteen individuals produced valid GPS data, comprising nine females and six males. The final analytical dataset contains 3,327 retained GPS fixes after removal of records lacking valid coordinates, per-individual DBSCAN main-cluster filtering in projected coordinates (eps = 5 km, minPts = 3), and removal of fixes exceeding a biologically plausible speed threshold of 0.40 m s⁻¹. Transmitter temperature was available for 1,165 of the retained GPS fixes. Individual 817 provided an additional 409 temperature-only observations without valid GPS coordinates and was therefore excluded from spatial analyses. The dataset supports analyses of behavioural states, thermal ecology, behavioural repeatability, home-range estimation, spatial overlap, seasonal activity and fine-scale habitat selection of M. rivulata at the north-western edge of its range. Exact GPS coordinates are included to preserve analytical reproducibility and should be handled in accordance with applicable conservation, project and permit requirements.
