The present study aimed to investigate the effects of Fennel essential oil (FEO) and manganese on ovarian function in female rats with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). The study involved 30 rats divided into six groups, with the first three groups receiving sesame oil, FEO, and manganese. The remaining groups were induced with PCO by estradiol valerate injection. After 60 days of induction, the fifth and sixth groups were treated with FEO and manganese individually. Mir-145 gene expression was evaluated using qRT-PCR, while ovarian changes were examined through histological examination. The study found that EV reduced mir-145 gene expression and caused ovarian cysts. In normal rats, FEO increased cysts but decreased gene expression. However, in rats with PCO, both FEO and manganese significantly reduced cysts and increased mir-145 gene expression. Manganese was found to be more effective than fennel in reducing cysts and increasing gene expression in PCO rats.
