p53 terminates the regenerative fetal-like state after colitis-associated injury

We wanted to understand how loss of p53 in colon epithelial cells might lock cells in the fetal-like regenerative state in the context of colitis and how p53 loss might affect tumorigenesis in this environment. p53-knock out cells generated in-vitro and cultured without the niche factor Wnt to select for cells able to grow independently of Wnt were sequenced and compared to wild type controls.
