Xanthomonas citri pv. glycines strain:EB08 Genome sequencing

We sequenced a U.S. strain of the soybean pathogen Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. glycines, strain EB08, to look for potential virulence and avirulence factors coded in its genome. For this, we used PacBio sequencing because the long-read technology allows us to accurately assemble clusters of the highly-repetitive TAL effectors, which short-read sequencing technologies do not effectively capture. The genome sequence was a starting point for analyzing genotypic and phenotypic differences between isolates, and for examining the evolution of the pathogen over time and space.
