The GALAH Survey is a large project investigating the history of the Milky Way's stars: when did they form, and how have they moved through the Galaxy since then? What are they made out of, and what new elements are they producing? We are answering these questions by collecting spectra for a million stars in the Milky Way, using the powerful HERMES spectrograph and the 2dF fibre positioner that allows us to observe 400 stars every hour.
