FIG S3 Deletions of copper and nickel exporters have small effects on E. coli sensitivity to HOSCN in the presence of their respective metals. E. coli strains MG1655, MJG1759 (MG1655 ∆copA767::kan+), MJG2344 (MG1655 ∆zntA724::kan+), and MJG2346 (MG1655 ∆rcnA731::kan+) were grown in MOPS minimal medium without micronutrients containing 0.2% glucose, supplemented with (A) 1 µM CuCl2, (B) 1 µM ZnSO4, or (C) 100 µM NiSO4 and/or 400 µM HOSCN, as indicated, incubating at 37°C with shaking and measuring A600 at 30-minute intervals for 24 hours (n=3-4 experimental replicates, with 2-3 technical replicates per experiment; error bars of 1 standard deviation).
