Eye and Vision Diagnosed Conditions

The concept set was based on a set of ICD-9 codes of eye and visual conditions developed by Eileen Antico, which were used to search concepts in PEDSNet and manually reviewed by Cara Reedy. However, the concept set may still include a few incorrect inclusions from code mismappings. The concept set is intended to be broad and includes minor and temporary conditions such as red eye along with genetic disorders that can affect vision. It was used to exclude patients with a history of eye or visual problems in a study involving eye exams.
