The Joint Genome Institute has sequenced the genome of the water flea, Daphnia pulex, producing an 8.7X WGS sequence. An individual clone (Log50) with low nucleotide polymorphism was selected for sequencing in order to optimize the assembly of genomic scaffolds. A preliminary assembly and annotation is available at wFleaBase.
