Stacks of microscopic images of a newly described amber fossil mite, Barbutia theroni sp. nov. (Acari: Raphignathoidea: Barbutiidae), deutonymph female.<br>Combined (focus-stacked) images were prepared with Helicon Focus 7.5 software, using algorithm B with subsequent manual addition of significant details like thin setae from the individual focal planes. <br><br>Amber piece (Eocene Rovno amber, collection number SIZK K-7087-II-A) containing the mite was cut from a larger piece of amber, trimmed to the minimal attainable thickness in mite's dorso-ventral direction (ca.0.3 mm), polished and then embedded in epoxy resin between two round coverslips following protocols of Sidorchuk (2011, 2013) and tools described by Sidorchuk and Vorontsov (2018). <br><br>The mite was imaged in dorsal and ventral aspects using Zeiss AxioImager A2 compound microscope with 100x oil immersion objective using Nomarski DIC. Stacks of images, comprising multiple focal planes, were obtained with an Olympus OM-D E-M10-II digital camera.<br>
