Attitude to the European Community. Assessment of the political and
economic situation of the country.
Topics: Judgement on the general political and economic development of
the country; expected development of the economic situation; judgement
on the development of one´s own financial situation; attitude to the
market economy; judgement on the speed of economic reforms as well as
privatization of government companies; personal opinion leadership;
frequency of political discussions; probability of establishment of a
dictatorship in the country; satisfaction with democracy; comparison of
the earlier political system with the current one; extent of respect
for human rights in one´s country and reason for this assessment;
attitude to the decay of countries in the east; satisfaction with
western economic aid; knowledge about the ´Conference on Security and
Cooperation in Europe´, the European Community and the European Bank
for Reconstruction and Development; attitude to the goals and
activities of the European Community; knowledge about the location of
the most important European institutions; designations of the country
with which the future of one´s own country is most closely tied;
interest in the EC; general interest in the EC and EC membership of the
country; preferred point in time to join the EC; knowledge and interest
in support programs of the EC, making trade easier with the EC and the
agreements on political, economic as well as cultural cooperation;
perceived advantages and disadvantages of membership of one´s own
country; population groups or political areas that could profit from or
be disadvantaged by a tie with the EC; judgement on the success of the
UN, the EC, the CSCE and NATO in solving the Yugoslavia conflict;
assessment of EC, Japan, USA and Russia as fair trading partners; most
important source of information about the EC; trust in domestic and
foreign television or radio stations as well as newspapers and
magazines; attitude to freedom of the press; frequency of listening to
foreign radio stations; probability of personally migrating to Western
Europe for work; union membership; self-classification on a left-right
continuum; religiousness; feeling as a European; perceived
