Transcriptomic analysis of V. natriegens before and after low-temperature preservation

To uncover the mechanisms underlying the cold-induced loss of culturability for V. natriegens, we analyzed and compared its transcriptome before and after 8 d preservation at 4 degrees Celsius in liquid LB3 medium (LB medium supplemented with 2% NaCl). Late exponential phase cultures were withdrawn for total RNA extraction (control), while the rest of the cultures were preserved at 4 degrees Celsius. After 8 days of preservation, samples were withdrawn from each culture for RNA extraction.
