Continuous interstitial serum glucose monitoring for term newborns

We studied 159 appropriate for gestational age term newborns, who were exclusively breastfed, from 2 hours to 25 hours of life, using a continuous glucose monitoring device which calculates interstitial glycemia every 5 minutes. The study was approved by the Ribeirão Preto Medical Hospital Research Ethics Committee (protocol 10532/2013). All study procedures were described in detail to the mother, father or legal guardian, who gave written informed consent for the participation of their child in the study.
