Retorica e politica. Un profilo retorico di Gianfranco Fini

The present paper aims at determining a linguistic profile of Gianfranco Fini starting from the analysis of some of his political speeches, paying attention in particular to the relationship between rhetoric and politics. The main target, indeed, is to verify the presence, in the speeches analysed here, of traditional rhetorical figures and to analyze their specific characteristics and importance in the given context. Considering persuasion as the main objective of every political speech, such a survey allows one to meditate on the strategies used by the politicians in consensus-building, in a context in which the word becomes the key tool for the achievement and the preservation of power.
