资源简介:
The dataset documents the biographical information of enslaved and free people documented in prominent Maryland enslaver Thomas Peter’s daybook. The daybook includes a list detailing the names, ages, and values of sixty-one enslaved individuals, originally described as his wife, Martha Parke Custis’s, patrimony list. A thorough transaction history in the daybook's second half describes Thomas Peter's involvement in both the domestic slave trade and the hiring free Black people.
