South African Informal Sector Innovation Survey (IIS) 2017-18: Sweetwaters baseline - Aggregated

This aggregated data set contains the responses of South African small and informal business enterprises on their innovation activities carried out between 2017 and 2018. It is distinct from grassroots innovation, defined as “a diverse set of activities in which networks of neighbours, community groups and activists work with people to generate bottom-up solutions for sustainable development” (DST, 2018), as well as social innovation. Response rate = 100 x [Responses/(Responses + Non-responses - Out-of-scopes)] In total, 1,289 businesses were approached, of which 996 completed the survey. The survey achieved an overall response rate of 77.3%.
