Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU), NHERI 2022: Comparative Study of Surrogate Model Methods for Predicting Seismic Structural Response

This project is about comparing the accuracy and efficiency of two surrogate modeling methods (Gaussian Process Regression and Probabilistic Learning on Manifolds) for predicting seismic structural responses. The data of this project can be used to further improve the performance of the two surrogate modeling methods at predicting structural responses. This project is unique because, to the author's best knowledge, no research has compared these two methods. The main audience is engineers interested in structural modeling and the general audience is the natural hazards engineering community.
