Targeted DNA sequencing of paired normal lung, atypical adenomatous hyperplasia and lung adenocarcinomas

There is a dearth of knowledge about the pathogenesis of the premalignant lung lesion atypical adenomatous hyperplasia, the only known precursor for the major lung cancer subtype adenocarcinomas. Here, we sought to study the genomic landscape of mutational events involved in the development of these premalignant lesions from normal lung parenchyma as well as their progression to lung adenocarcinomas. Findings from this study will provide for an early detection and possible personalized chemoprevention of early stage disease.
